EMBREY’s development team focuses on office, retail, industrial, business park, and multiuse land. For more than three decades, we have planned and overseen the creative design and build for more than six million square feet of commercial space.
Our seasoned professionals specialize in acquisitions and a compilation of development services including site identification and layout, negotiation and leasing, governmental entitlement processing, financial feasibility studies, and major tenant negotiations.
Jimmy McCloskey serves as Chief Development Officer at EMBREY, where he leads all development activities and oversees the construction division across the company’s national portfolio. With more than two decades of industry experience, Jimmy has participated in the development of more than 11,000 multifamily units, guiding projects from initial concept through disposition.
Since joining EMBREY in 2012 as a Vice President of Development, Jimmy has played a key role in advancing the company’s development platform and strengthening alignment between development and construction teams. His performance led to successive promotions, including Executive Vice President of Development.
Prior to EMBREY, he served as senior project manager with Marriott and as project manager with Colonial Properties Trust, building a strong foundation in complex real estate development and construction.
He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, and the National Multifamily Housing Council.
Jimmy holds a Master of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Utah Valley University.
Brad Knolle serves as Executive Vice President of Development and is responsible for sourcing and overseeing development activities across Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and San Antonio. In this role, he leads development teams across these markets and provides strategic direction for the company’s portfolio throughout the Southeast United States and Texas.
With more than two decades of development experience, Brad has led the development of over 9,000 units for EMBREY across six states. His work spans multiple markets and phases of the development process, contributing to the company’s growth and expansion into key regions.
Since joining EMBREY in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Development, Brad has played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s geographic footprint. He has been instrumental in opening new markets, including Arizona, Tennessee, Central Florida, and North Carolina. His leadership and performance led to his promotion to Executive Vice President of Development in 2017.
Prior to EMBREY, Brad served as Director of Acquisitions for The NRP Group, where he focused on pursuing affordable housing opportunities for the company’s Texas division. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, and the National Multifamily Housing Council.
Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and a Master of Land Economics and Real Estate from Texas A&M University.
Jacob Shalley serves as Executive Vice President of Development, and he leads and mentors development team members across entitlements, design, and construction. In his role, he provides strategic oversight of the basis of design, project production, technology implementation, and quality assurance/quality control processes across the company’s portfolio.
With more than two decades of industry experience, Jacob has overseen the development of more than 11,000 units across EMBREY’s active markets. His experience spans a wide range of product types, including high-rise, podium, wrap, office, and industrial developments, with full lifecycle involvement from initial concept through completion. Since joining EMBREY in 2013 as Vice President of Development, he has contributed to more than 30 multifamily developments and advanced through successive leadership roles.
Before joining EMBREY, Jacob held roles with Hanover and Cameron (now Schlumberger). At Hanover, he managed design coordination and construction for projects in Dallas, San Francisco, and Houston. At Cameron/Schlumberger, he oversaw a domestic and international development pipeline supporting large-scale energy sector expansion initiatives.
He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, and NMHC OpTech. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional and was recognized with a Historic Preservation Award for the restoration of 769 Samuels Avenue in Fort Worth.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from the Langford College of Architecture at Texas A&M University.
Suzanne White is responsible for management of the development process, including market analysis and demographic research, as well as oversight of contracts and budgets throughout the preliminary development and completion phases of each project.
Suzanne joined EMBREY in 1997 and her experience includes several high-profile projects such as EMBREY’s Quarry Village mixed-use project.
Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Business Arts in Marketing from Texas A&M University. She is a member of the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, the Downtown Alliance and San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
Andy Swadel leads development in the Florida market. He ensures that the development vision for each project is defined, realized and consistently representative of EMBREY’s brand and history of excellence.
Prior to joining EMBREY, Andy served as Vice President of Development at Madison Capital Group. His previous experience includes Director of Development for SC Advisors in Orlando; Senior Vice President for TowerPoint Capital in Atlanta; and Senior Associate for Investments at Carter in Atlanta. He served as development advisor to Dr. Phillips Charities for the planning, entitlement and initial land sales, including EMBREY’s Cannery project, of the 200-acre Packing District in Orlando, Florida.
He received his Master of Business Administration in Real Estate from J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University, Atlanta, and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia, Athens.
Chris Alvarado represents EMBREY through all phases of the development cycle from project identification, negotiations and planning, to design, build and closing in the Denver and Phoenix markets.
Chris first joined EMBREY as a Senior Project Engineer, moving on to Pre-Construction Manager, and then progressing within the development team to his current position. Previously, Chris served as project manager and estimator with JMEG, L.P.
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio.
Joel Albea represents EMBREY throughout the development cycle, from project identification, negotiations and planning, to design, build and closing. He focuses on projects in the Charlotte, Nashville and Orlando markets.
Prior to serving as Vice President, Joel worked as a Development Manager and Senior Development Manager at EMBREY. He also is a licensed architect and came to EMBREY with a diverse and comprehensive career in architecture acquired as a Director and Associate Principal.
He received his Bachelor of Environmental Design and Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University, College Station, prior to completing his Master of Business Administration at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, Austin.
Casey Klein serves as Vice President of Development at EMBREY, where he oversees site selection, entitlements, and design efforts across the Denver and Austin markets. In his role, he leads coordination with consultants and directs development activities from initial concepts through project disposition.
With nearly a decade of experience across a range of development projects, Casey has contributed to more than 12 multifamily developments. His experience includes podium, wrap, urban, and garden-style multifamily products, with involvement spanning entitlement, design, and construction. He maintains full lifecycle oversight of development projects within his markets, ensuring alignment from inception through completion.
Since joining EMBREY in 2021 as Director of Land Acquisitions, Casey has played an integral role in expanding the company’s development pipeline in key growth markets. His performance led to his promotion to Vice President of Development, where he continues to drive strategic site selection and project execution.
Prior to EMBREY, Casey held leadership roles with Presidian Hotels and TransPecos Development Corp., where he ultimately served as President of Development. Across these roles, he oversaw management, development, and investment activities for a diverse portfolio of projects.
Casey holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, the Real Estate Council of Austin, and the National Multifamily Housing Council.
As Vice President of Development, Brian Vita represents EMBREY throughout the development cycle, from project identification, negotiations and planning, to design, build and closing in the San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth Markets.
Brian first joined EMBREY as a Development Manager and was subsequently promoted to Senior Development Manager before assuming his current role. Prior to joining EMBREY, he served as development manager at Titan Development and Titan Development Real Estate Fund, San Antonio.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance-Real Estate.
